Zernio alternatives in 2026: pricing, free tiers and AI

The best Zernio alternative depends on what you are missing. If you need the posts written as well as delivered, PlanVortex writes the week and draws the images; Zernio has no AI. If the per-account bill is the issue, PlanVortex starts with three free accounts and costs less across most of the range. To self-host, Postiz.
Every price on this page was read on the vendor's own site or documentation on 5 October 2026.
What does Zernio do well?
- The first two accounts are free, with no card, and they include the full API, analytics, the inbox and webhooks.
- Its homepage claims 16 social platforms and 7 ad networks, so it publishes, answers messages and runs paid campaigns from one API.
- It sells telephony through the same API: phone numbers from $3 a month, SMS from $0.008 a segment, calls from $0.010 a minute, plus iMessage and RCS. A WhatsApp message with an SMS fallback can come from a single vendor.
- Its trust center lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, with the report and a data processing agreement available on request.
- Multi-tenancy is one profile per customer, with a headless mode so your customer never sees a Zernio screen. Its MCP server is hosted.
If you bring your own content and want social, ads and SMS under one API, Zernio is a solid choice.
Who writes the posts with Zernio?
You do. Zernio has no AI that writes the text or generates the images. Its features page has a Tools API for downloading videos and pulling transcripts and captions, but nothing that drafts a post. The content arrives from your side of the integration: your model, your prompts, your image provider and your bill.
That is fine if you already have a content engine. If you would have to build one so your customers' accounts have something to publish, PlanVortex already ships it:
| PlanVortex | Zernio | |
|---|---|---|
| Writes the post text | Yes, from €15/month | No |
| Generates the images | Yes | No |
| Plans a week from a theme | Yes, with templates | No |
| Writes from your own photos, an article or your shop's catalog | Yes | No |
| Bring your own AI provider key | Yes, consumes no credits | Not applicable |
The planner produces drafts per network with suggested times, and a person reviews them before anything goes out. The Basic plan includes 1,000 AI credits and Pro 4,000.
How much does Zernio cost compared with PlanVortex?
Zernio is free for two accounts, then $6 per account up to ten, $3 from 11 to 100 and $1 beyond. Each band pays its own rate, so twenty accounts are $78 a month, Zernio's own worked example. Messages beyond 10,000 a month, managed ads beyond 500, X calls, SMS and calls are metered on top.
PlanVortex charges in euros: free up to three accounts, €15 for six, €30 for ten, and a custom plan from €45 with 15 accounts, then €3, €2 and €0.90 per account as the count grows.
| Accounts | PlanVortex | Zernio |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | €0 | $0 |
| 3 | €0 | $6 |
| 4 | €15 | $12 |
| 6 | €15 | $24 |
| 10 | €30 | $48 |
| 20 | €60 | $78 |
| 50 | €125 | $168 |
| 100 | €225 | $318 |
The two bill in different currencies and we have not converted them. From six accounts up, every row is lower on PlanVortex even at 1.20 dollars per euro. Zernio comes out cheaper right where one of our fixed plans starts (four, seven and eleven accounts), because a plan costs the same across its range, and those plans carry the AI credits that Zernio does not sell at any price.
Zernio alternatives, compared
| Hosting | Free tier | Entry paid | Billing unit | Your customers connect via API | MCP | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zernio | hosted | 2 accounts | $6/account | account | Yes, headless mode | Yes, hosted |
| PlanVortex | hosted | 3 accounts + API | €15/mo | account | Yes, create_connect_link |
31 tools, free plan included |
| Upload-Post | hosted | 2 profiles, 10 uploads/mo | $24/mo | profile | Yes, white-label from $50 | Yes |
| Ayrshare | hosted | No | $149/mo | profile | Yes, user profiles | Yes |
| Postiz | cloud or self-hosted | self-hosted only | $29/mo | channel | No, needs a Postiz account | Yes |
A profile is one customer or brand with several networks inside it; an account or a channel is one connected network. That is why the entry prices do not line up.
The hosted alternatives
PlanVortex: free plan with 3 connected accounts, unlimited publications, unlimited users and the API and an app included, no card. create_connect_link returns a link your customer opens to authorize their own Instagram on your screens, under your brand, through PlanVortex's own apps, so there is nothing to register and no review queue on your side. With account_selection=integrator you draw the account picker yourself, which is the same idea as Zernio's headless mode. Its TikTok app has passed the audit, so your customers' videos go out with the visibility they choose. On top of the API there is a finished dashboard in Spanish, English and Italian for customers who want a calendar and an inbox rather than an integration, an MCP server with 31 tools, Node and Python libraries, a public OpenAPI spec, invoicing in euros and data in Spain.
Upload-Post: free plan with 2 profiles and 10 uploads a month, TikTok excluded. Then $24 a month for 5 profiles with unlimited uploads, $50 for 25 with white-label, $147 for 75 and $438 for 225, cheaper on annual billing. Its unit is the profile, so it suits products where each customer is one brand with several networks.
Ayrshare: Premium is $149 a month for 1 profile, Launch $299 for 10 profiles (the only plan with a trial, 28 days), Business $599 for 30 and Enterprise from 300 profiles. A mature API with a high floor, covered in detail in Ayrshare alternatives.
If you want to self-host: Postiz
Postiz is AGPL-3.0 open source with the longest list of networks among these options, and its cloud costs $29 a month for 5 channels, $39 for 10, $49 for 30 and $99 for 100, with AI images from the Team plan up. Two details matter if you are building a product. Its public API only posts to channels already connected inside Postiz, so your customers cannot connect their accounts through it. And self-hosted, every network wants your own developer app and its review: TikTok publishes privately until it audits that app, Meta wants App Review before you publish for anyone else. Postiz alternatives prices that work.
Where PlanVortex fits
It is built above all for a software company publishing on behalf of its customers, from inside its own product, which is the same buyer Zernio targets. The difference is what arrives with the API: the posts written and illustrated, a dashboard for customers who want one, and a bill in euros from a company that answers in Spanish, English or Italian. The free plan opens all of it, with no card.
When it is not the right fit:
- Paid campaigns belong in the same contract. PlanVortex manages organic publishing, comments and messages, not ads.
- You need SMS or voice next to the social channels. Zernio sells both through the same API.
- You already have your own content engine and only need the delivery.
The short version
- Missing the content? Zernio delivers posts; PlanVortex also writes them and draws the images, from €15 a month or with your own AI key.
- Paying per account? PlanVortex has three free accounts instead of two and costs less at six, ten, twenty, fifty and a hundred accounts, in euros.
- Each customer is one brand? Upload-Post bills by profile, from $24 a month.
- Must self-host? Postiz, counting the developer apps and reviews on every network.
PlanVortex's API is documented at /en/developers, the MCP server at /en/agents, and the head-to-head is PlanVortex vs Zernio.
Is Zernio free?
For the first two connected accounts, yes: no card, unlimited posts, analytics, the inbox and the full API, with 10,000 outbound messages a month. From the third account it is $6 per account up to ten, $3 from 11 to 100 and $1 beyond, in graduated tiers, so twenty accounts cost $78 a month. Messages, managed ads, X calls, SMS and calls are metered on top. Read at zernio.com/pricing on October 5, 2026.
Does Zernio generate posts with AI?
No. As of October 5, 2026 there is no AI that writes post text or generates images anywhere on Zernio's site, pricing or documentation. Its Tools API downloads videos and extracts transcripts and captions, but the post itself has to come from your side: your own model, your prompts and your bill. PlanVortex writes the week and generates the images from €15 a month, or with your own provider key.
What is the cheapest Zernio alternative with an API?
PlanVortex starts wider: three free accounts against two, with the API and an app included. Then €15 for six accounts and €30 for ten, where Zernio charges $24 and $48. Upload-Post's free plan has two profiles and ten uploads a month, without TikTok. Ayrshare has no free plan and starts at $149 a month. Prices read on October 5, 2026.
Which Zernio alternative lets my customers connect their own accounts?
PlanVortex, on every plan including the free one: create_connect_link returns a link your customer opens to authorize their own account on your screens, and with account_selection=integrator you draw the picker yourself, which is the same idea as Zernio's headless mode. Ayrshare does it with user profiles from $149 a month, and Upload-Post with its connect flow, white-label from its $50 plan.
Is there a self-hosted alternative to Zernio?
Postiz, which is AGPL open source. The licence is free, but self-hosted you register a developer app on every network and go through its review, and TikTok publishes privately until it audits that app. Its cloud has no free plan and starts at $29 a month for 5 channels. Postiz alternatives covers the self-hosting cost in detail.
