Metricool alternatives in 2026: one list for marketers, another for developers

Metricool is the incumbent in Spain for a reason, and most "alternatives" articles are written by people who have not used it. It has been at this since 2015, its analytics are deeper than almost everything on this list, and it manages Meta, Google and TikTok Ads from the same screen — which barely anyone else does.
So the useful question is not "what is better". It is which of the two problems you have, because they have different answers:
- The bill grows with the number of brands and you have a lot of them.
- You are building a product and hit the wall where the API needs the Advanced plan.
Prices read on each vendor's own pricing page on 15 September 2026.
What Metricool costs
| Plan | Price | Brands | API |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 1 | No |
| Starter | from €20/month | up to 10 | No |
| Advanced | from €54/month | up to 50 | Yes |
| Custom | contact | custom | Yes |
The ranges are real: Starter runs €16-€29 and Advanced €43-€172 depending on how many brands you carry, and annual billing saves up to 24%. X/Twitter needs a paid add-on on every plan except Custom.
One thing to keep straight before you go shopping, because it is the single most common confusion: the MCP server works on any plan, including Free. The API needs Advanced. They are two different doors onto the same product.
If your problem is the per-brand bill
You are a marketer or an agency. You want the same job done for less, and you are not writing code.
Buffer — $5 per channel per month on Essentials, $10 on Team with unlimited team members, and channels above 10 cost less each. The free plan gives 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel. Its queue model is still the best thing anyone has built for posting consistently. Weaker analytics than Metricool, and no ads.
Postiz — $29/month for 5 channels, $39 for 10 with unlimited team members, $49 for 30, $99 for 100. Open source, so you can also self-host it for free and pay in maintenance instead. Includes an API and an MCP on all paid plans.
Blotato — $29/month for 20 social accounts, $97 for 40, $499 for Agency, with AI credits at every tier. Built around producing content with AI rather than around reporting on it.
Hootsuite — worth naming so you can rule it out. It bills per user: $99/user/month on Standard (10 accounts) and $249/user/month on Advanced, annually. If you are leaving Metricool over cost, this is not the direction.
None of these replaces the ads management. If that is why you are on Metricool, the honest answer is to stay.
If your problem is the API wall
You are a software company. Your customers connect their own Instagram from inside your product, and you need that flow over an API.
Here the filter is not features or price. It is whether you can build the account connection over the API at all — and Metricool's own documentation puts managing social network connections under what the MCP does, not the API.
| Multi-tenant publishing | Connect flow over API | Floor | |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlanVortex | Yes | create_connect_link, all plans |
€0 |
| Zernio | Yes | Yes | $0 (2 accounts) |
| bundle.social | Yes | Yes | $0 (3 accounts) |
| Upload-Post | Yes | Yes | $0 (10 uploads/mo) |
| Outstand | Yes | Yes, BYOK white-label | $19/mo |
| Ayrshare | Yes, user profiles | Yes | $149/mo |
| Buffer | No | No, closed since 2019 | — |
PlanVortex separates clients, organizations and accounts in the data model, and create_connect_link returns a link your customer opens to authorize their own account on your screens, under your brand. The API and your apps are on all four plans including the free one — 3 connected accounts, unlimited publications, no card. Paid: €15 (6 accounts), €30 (10), custom from €45 (15), then graduated tiers of €3, €2 and €0.90.
Zernio — 2 free accounts with full API, then $6 per account (3-10), $3 (11-100), $1 (101+). No AI of any kind, English-only, USD, and nothing about GDPR or data residency in their docs.
Outstand — the interesting one for this reader: per post, not per account. $19/month including 3,000 posts, unlimited connected accounts, hosted MCP, and white-label with your own Meta/LinkedIn apps so your customers see your brand on the OAuth screen.
bundle.social and Upload-Post both start free with API access; bundle.social's $100/month plan makes connected accounts unlimited.
The unit is the whole comparison
Metricool bills per brand. Most of the developer list bills per connection. That is not a detail, it is the entire cost curve:
- A customer with one brand on six networks is one Metricool brand and six PlanVortex accounts.
- Two hundred customers with two networks each is 200 brands and 400 accounts.
So per-brand billing wins when each customer connects many networks, and per-connection billing wins when you have many customers connecting few. Work out your own shape before choosing on price — most comparison pages skip this because it does not flatter whoever wrote them.
At 400 connected accounts, PlanVortex's accounts line is €30 + €45 + €150 + €270 = €495/month. Outstand, with unlimited accounts and modest posting, is $19. We are not going to hide that.
Where PlanVortex loses against Metricool
- Ads. Meta, Google and TikTok campaigns. We do not do this and will not.
- Analytics depth. Ten years of product against our reporting. Theirs is better.
- Pinterest and Twitch. Two networks we do not cover.
- The name. Every marketing team in Spain already knows theirs.
And one correction to a claim that circulates in this market: Metricool's white label is good. The partner administers and assigns the brands, the end customer does not have to create an account, and it all runs under the partner's domain. The real difference is narrower and it is in their own documentation: the social-account connection workflow cannot be built through API calls.
The short version
- Cost per brand, and you are a marketer? Buffer or Postiz. Keep Metricool if you use the ads.
- Building a product? The question is the connect flow, not the feature list. PlanVortex, Zernio, bundle.social, Upload-Post and Outstand all start free or near it; Ayrshare works and starts at $149.
- Account-heavy and post-light? Outstand and bundle.social beat every per-account model, ours included.
- Do not go to Hootsuite to save money. It bills per user.
PlanVortex's API is at /en/developers, and there is a head-to-head at PlanVortex vs Metricool.
Which plan of Metricool includes the API?
Advanced or Custom. Advanced starts at €54/month for up to 50 brands. The MCP server is different and works on any plan including Free, which is why 'the Metricool API is free' and 'Metricool asked me to upgrade' are both true statements about different doors. If you wire n8n with an X-Mc-Auth header token you are using the API, so you need Advanced. Verified September 15, 2026.
What is the best Metricool alternative for a SaaS that publishes for its customers?
The honest filter is not features, it is whether the account connection flow is available over the API. PlanVortex returns a connect link from create_connect_link on every plan including free; Ayrshare supports it through user profiles from $149/month; Zernio, bundle.social, Upload-Post and Outstand all support multi-tenant publishing. Buffer does not, at any price, because third-party access has been closed since 2019.
Is there a free alternative to Metricool?
Metricool's own free plan (1 brand) is hard to beat for a single brand. For more: Buffer's free plan gives 3 channels, PlanVortex gives 3 connected accounts with the API and an app, bundle.social gives 3 accounts, Zernio gives 2, and Postiz is free if you self-host it. None of them matches Metricool's analytics depth on the free tier.
Does any alternative do advertising like Metricool?
Very few. Metricool manages Meta, Google and TikTok Ads from the same place, and that is genuinely uncommon — PlanVortex does not do ads at all and has no plans to. If ad management is part of why you use Metricool, most of this list is a downgrade and you should weigh that before moving.
Does Metricool charge extra for X/Twitter?
Yes, X requires a paid add-on on every plan except Custom. That is a pass-through of X's own API costs and everyone in this market handles it somehow: PlanVortex bills X per publication instead of a flat monthly fee per connected account, and bundle.social charges $0.015 a post and $0.20 for posts with a link.
